Five senses investigation

Did you know that we have 5 senses we use to experience the world around us?

These senses help us to decipher what things are and how we use them.

Today we are going to do an investigation.  You are going to pick two senses that you would like to investigate.  Once you have picked them then you can follow along with the activities below:

Please be sure to video your two senses that you are working on and send them to your teacher.

Touch:

Have a parent or sibling blind fold you.  They will put one item in a bag or pillow case.  You will reach in the bag and try and use just your hands to figure out what the object might be.  Did you guess correctly?  What made it tricky to figure out what it was?

Smell:

Have someone in your family put three different items into three different containers.  Have them blindfold you and tell them to place one container at a time in your hands for you to smell.  You cannot touch it, see, or taste it.  What does it smell like?  Did you guess correctly?  What made it tricky to figure out what it was?

taste:

Have someone in your family put three items that are for tasting into three separate containers.  Have them blindfold you and tell them to place the container in your hand.  With your other hand you will eat the item in the container.  What was it?  Did you guess it?  What made it tricky to figure out what it was? Did it taste like something else?

sound:

Have someone in your family put three items into a container.  Make sure it is a container where you can't see inside.  Shake each container.  What did you think was inside?  Were you correct when you opened up the container? What made it tricky to guess what it was?

sight:

Have someone put three different object into three different containers.  The person showing the objects to you needs to stand ten steps away.  They will then show you the object for 3 seconds and then take it away.  You then will guess what the object is that they are showing.  Did you guess it?  What made it tricky to figure out what it was?

Just for fun activity after if you enjoyed this investigation:
